This program has been created to accompany the Intermediate Pathways to Success Textbook. The material provided in this course will allow you to practice the vocabulary and grammar skills taught in each chapter (lesson) in more meaningful ways. It is recommended that you work through the lessons in order because the lessons will build upon each other. In this way, you will always find some use of the material you learned in previous lessons.

This course aims to develop learners into more competent English speakers by instructing them on how to interact with native speakers in the United States in a more authentic and confident manner. By the end of this course, students should be prepared to move into the Advanced Pathways to Success Program, which is the highest level English program available from the school.

  1. Using the information presented in this course, learners will be able to interact more effectively in important situations such as going to the doctor by using the appropriate vocabulary and sentence structures.
  2. By the conclusion of the program, learners will be able to identify important culturally relevant songs, tv shows, movies, and books appropriate to the intermediate level.
  3. Learners will demonstrate an improvement from their pretest and final exam scores as a direct result of the course material.

What types of activities are there?

  1. Matching exercises – These help you see what content you remember and what you don’t.
  2. Fill-in-the-blank exercises – These activities ask you to write in the words that complete the sentence or match the definition(s) of the words we learned about.
  3. Listening Exercises – In each lesson, there is a short recording where the teacher will say each word and then define it for you. This will help you practice your speaking and listening and will help you review words from the lesson.
  4. Interactive flashcards – These are a great tool to help you practice and review important vocabulary words and idioms we learn in class.
  5. Lesson Quizzes– These quizzes are at the end of each unit and will help you do a quick check on some of the key concepts presented in each lesson. If you don’t pass a lesson quiz, that’s okay! Just go back and spend some more time practicing that section.

What’s the next step?

You will need to take the pretest. This pretest will collect information on your current level of English. Your results of this test can be used to compare with the results of the final exam to see if you have improved or not. The tests will be different, but you will learn about all of the concepts and hopefully do better by the end of the course.

Is there any other help available?

If you paid for the additional service, you can send your homework, voice notes/ messages, and questions to the teacher. He will go through them all every Friday and send feedback and corrections within 72 hours. If you are having difficulty with a pronunciation concept, grammar point, understanding something in a specific lesson, or you just have questions and/or want feedback on your homework, then you can interact with the teacher here!
